Product Description
The AD9915BCPZ uses advanced DDS technology with an internal high-speed, high-performance 12-bit DAC to form a digitally programmable, complete high-frequency synthesizer capable of generating frequency-agile analog output sinusoidal waveforms at up to 1.0 GHz.
It enables fast frequency hopping and ultra-fine tuning resolution — 64-bit capable using programmable modulus mode — along with fast phase and amplitude hopping. Frequency tuning and control words are loaded via a serial or parallel I/O port.
A user-defined linear sweep mode generates linear swept waveforms of frequency, phase, or amplitude — ideal for FMCW radar and chirp applications. The 32-bit parallel data input port supports high data rates for polar modulation schemes and fast reprogramming of phase, frequency, and amplitude tuning words.
Specified over the extended industrial temperature range (−40°C to +85°C), the AD9915BCPZ is packaged in a compact 88-lead LFCSP.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the AD9915BCPZ used for?
The AD9915BCPZ is a 2.5 GSPS Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) with integrated 12-bit DAC. It generates frequency-agile sine waves up to 1.0 GHz for agile LO synthesis, FMCW radar chirps, programmable clock generation, test & measurement equipment, acousto-optic device drivers, polar modulators, and fast frequency hopping systems.
What is the frequency tuning resolution of AD9915BCPZ?
135 picohertz (pHz) using the standard 32-bit tuning word. In programmable modulus mode, it supports 64-bit resolution for sub-pHz frequency steps — among the finest tuning resolution available in a commercial DDS.
What is the phase noise performance?
−128 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset when operating at 978 MHz output. Wideband SFDR is better than −57 dBc, providing excellent spectral purity for demanding RF applications.
Does AD9915BCPZ support frequency sweeping (chirp)?
Yes. The AD9915BCPZ supports automatic linear and nonlinear sweeping of frequency, phase, and amplitude. This makes it ideal for FMCW radar, scanning systems, and chirp-based test applications. Sweep parameters are user-programmable.
What power supplies does AD9915BCPZ require?
Dual supplies: 1.8V for the digital core and 3.3V for the analog/DAC sections. The device operates over the extended industrial temperature range (−40°C to +85°C) in an 88-lead LFCSP VQ package.
