ADI Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) Chips for Optical Receivers
Product Specifications
A TIA (transimpedance amplifier, also written transimpedance preamplifier) is the first active stage of an optical receiver. It converts the small current from a PIN photodiode into a differential voltage for the limiting amplifier or CDR behind it, so bandwidth, input referred noise and overload performance set the sensitivity of the whole module. All models below are grouped into this single product, so you can send us the models and quantities you need in one enquiry.

Product Details
Applications
Receiver front end of optical modules and ROSA assemblies from 622 Mbps to 11.1 Gbps: SFP and SFF LAN and WAN receivers, SFP+ 10G Ethernet, 1G, 2G and 4G Fibre Channel, SONET/SDH OC-3 to OC-192 line cards and regenerators, ATM and GPON ports, and die level ROSA designs where the TIA is placed next to the photodiode in a TO can or butterfly package.
Features
High gain SiGe and low noise designs with input referred noise from 73 nA rms, bandwidth from 560 MHz up to 9 GHz, differential output able to drive a CDR or limiting amplifier directly, input current overload tolerance up to several mA p-p for short reach and burst mode links, single 3.3 V or 5 V supply, and an average input power monitor output on the ADN2820 for DDM and alarm generation.
Companion Chips
The TIA is normally followed by a limiting amplifier (ADN2890, ADN2891, ADN2892, MAX3747, MAX3748) or a CDR with integrated limiting amp (ADN2812, ADN2817, MAX3872), and the module is controlled by an optical module controller (ADuC7020, DS4830, DS4834). We also supply the matching laser driver (ADN2525, ADN2870, MAX3735, MAX3949) and TEC controller (ADN8830, ADN8834, MAX8520, MAX8521) families for the transmit side.
