Included Model List

The limiting amplifiers below sit on the receive side of an optical module. They take the small differential signal from a TIA or ROSA and deliver a constant level CML or PECL output, so the following CDR or SerDes sees a clean, quantized data eye. All models are grouped into this single product, so you can send us the models and quantities you need in one enquiry.

Product Details

Applications

Receiver side of 155 Mbps to 14 Gbps optical modules: SFP, SFP+, SFF, GBIC and 10GBASE-LX4 transceivers, 4G and 16G Fibre Channel links, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET/SDH OC-3 to OC-48 and OC-48 with FEC line cards, GPON, BPON and EPON OLT and ONU ports, WDM transponders, and industrial or long distance optical links that need a clean quantized signal before the CDR.

Features

Programmable loss of signal (LOS) detection with hysteresis, RSSI and average received power monitoring that supports SFF-8472 DDM, adjustable input slice level and threshold to offset ASE noise in DWDM systems, output squelch or disable for safe module behaviour, selectable 500 mV p-p or 800 mV p-p CML output swing, PECL compatible inputs, and multirate operation from 155 Mbps up to 4.25 Gbps, with the MAX3799 covering 1 Gbps to 14 Gbps in one device.

Companion Chips

A complete optical module chip set also needs the front end, the retiming stage and the control block. We supply the TIA (ADN2880, ADN2882, ADN2820, MAX3266, MAX3267, MAX3760), CDR (ADN2812, ADN2814, ADN2817, ADN2818, MAX3872, MAX3876, MAX3877), laser driver (ADN2525, ADN2530, ADN2870, MAX3668, MAX3945), TEC controller (ADN8830, ADN8834, MAX8520, MAX8521) and optical module controller (ADuC7020, ADuC7021, DS4830, DS4834) families, so one BOM can be quoted in one go.
