Performance, Not Just Appearance
While IPC-A-600 tells you what looks acceptable, IPC-6012 tells you what must perform. It specifies minimum plating thickness in hole barrels (20um average), copper foil peel strength, solder mask adhesion, dimensional tolerances. These are measured, not just observed - microsection analysis, peel testing, and precision measurement verify every parameter.
