November 12, 2019, Beijing, China — Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the global leader in adaptive and intelligent computing, today announced the expansion of its automotive-grade (XA) 16nm product portfolio with two new devices: the Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC 7EV and 11EG. These new devices deliver optimal programmability, performance, and I/O capabilities, providing high-speed data aggregation, preprocessing, and distribution (DAPD) as well as computational acceleration for Level 2+ to Level 4 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) applications. With the introduction of these new products, Xilinx now offers the highest level of chip integration in the industry, spanning from compact devices supporting edge sensors to new high-performance devices for centralized domain controllers. This comprehensive product lineup meets the diverse automotive requirements for safety, quality, and reliability.
The newly launched XA Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC 7EV and 11EG devices were developed in response to customer demand. The new devices offer over 650,000 programmable logic cells and nearly 3,000 DSP units, representing a 2.5x increase compared to the previous largest devices. Additionally, the XA 7EV features an integrated video codec unit for H.264/H.265 encoding and decoding, while the XA 11EG includes 32 transceivers operating at 12.5 Gb/s and four PCIe® Gen3 x16 modules. With the addition of these two high-performance devices to the Xilinx automotive product family, automakers, robotaxi developers, and Tier 1 suppliers can achieve DAPD and computational acceleration within specific power envelopes, enabling scalable production and deployment of autonomous vehicles.
Emre Onder, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Xilinx, stated, "The two new devices in the Xilinx automotive-grade portfolio further strengthen our proven product lineup. In response to customer requests, we have expanded the XA product family to meet the complex demands of today’s ADAS and autonomous driving systems. With these new additions to the Zynq UltraScale+ family, Xilinx delivers unparalleled processing flexibility and scalability to address the rapidly evolving needs of the industry. Whether our customers are developing Level 1 or Level 4 systems, we can provide the right solution for their requirements."
The XA Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC portfolio is certified under the AEC-Q100 testing specification and integrates Xilinx programmable logic with low-power domains certified for ASIL-C. It also features a robust 64-bit quad-core Arm® Cortex®-A53 and dual-core Arm Cortex-R5 processing system. The combination of these capabilities, along with the powerful data throughput of the new devices, accelerates the deployment of autonomous vehicles. To date, Xilinx has delivered over 67 million automotive-grade solutions for ADAS systems and autonomous vehicle manufacturing to more than 200 automotive companies, including global Tier 1 suppliers, OEMs, and startups.
The new XA Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC devices are available starting today. All XA devices are supported by Xilinx’s unified software platforms, Vitis™ and Vitis AI, which enable a wide range of developers to easily leverage the powerful adaptability of Xilinx hardware.
